Embark On A New Journey With Meraki
A Journey To The Mountains And Monasteries Of Ladakh
An hour’s exciting flight from Delhi over the Himalayas with spectacular views of mountain ranges brings you to Leh the capital of Ladakh.
Meeting and assistance on arrival and transfer to hotel.
Leh, The erstwhile capital of the kingdom of Ladakh is now a dream destination of many and the Mecca of adventure enthusiasts. Leh, one of the coldest deserts in the world is located at a distance of 434 Kms from Srinagar and 474 Kms from Manali (Himachal Pradesh). At the time of reorganization of districts in 1979, Ladakh was divided into Leh and Kargil and now Leh district is synonymous with Ladakh and vice-versa!
The town is still dominated by the now ruined Leh Palace, former mansion of the royal family of Ladakh, built in the same style and about the same time as the Potala Palace.
Rest day at leisure to acclimatize because you have suddenly landed at 3500 meters and the air is thin.
So we will Just rest till we adjust to the new climate.
Today we all will have a welcome dinner. Where we will get introduced to our fellow travellers with good food and some warm exchange of thoughts.

Thiksey-Hemis-Stok-Leh
Todays day will start very early at 530 am. We will visit Thiksey monastery located at 3,600 meters (11,800 ft) seems the perfect place to commune with the gods. Erected by the Tibetan Buddhists, Thiksey hosts the largest statue in Ladakh – one of Maitreya, a future avatar of Lord Buddha, still to grace the earth. For the early risers or not so early risers as well, Thiksey monastery offers a perfect vantage point for sunrise views over the Indus Valley.
Attend the morning prayers with the monks. Have a butter tea with the Gelug sect of monks with interaction to understand their philosophy and lifestyle. Visit the monastery kitchen of the monks to see daily cooking rituals.
Later we will head for a breakfast to beautiful open café near the monastery and enjoy open air breakfast.
After breakfast, we will head towards Hemis Monastery a Himalayan Buddhist monastery (gompa) of the Drukpa Lineage, in Hemis, Ladakh, India. Situated 45 km from Leh, it was re-established in 1672 by the Ladakhi king Sengge Namgyal. The annual Hemis festival honouring Padmanabhanagar is held there in early June.
Spend some time at the Monastery and also since we are going to be close to banks of Indus river we will walk up the banks and spend some time.
Will stop for lunch and later head to Stok Village.
Will visit the Stok Palace.
Occupying a high altar of reverence amongst the people of Ladakh, the Namgyal dynasty has resided in the Stok Palace for centuries now. Opened to the public in 1980 with the blessings of the Dalai Lama, Stok Palace today is a boutique and heritage hotel in Ladakh that encapsulates all that this mysterious and beautiful land is.
In the evening we will visit the Central Asian Museum and end the evening by walking around.
Early dinner and snug to your beds.
Leh-Nubra Valley (150 kms/5 hours)
Early breakfast today.
After breakfast we will drive to Nubra Valley en-route visiting Khardungla Pass 18350 ft. this is highest motorable road in the world.
On arrival, check in to your hotels. In Nubra we stay on the less commercial side of the valley- in the village of Kyagar Nubra Valley is also known as Land of flowers so we will see the flowers in full bloom.
Lunch mid way (On your own).
Post lunch we will head for the village walk meet the locals talk to them and have a cup of tea with them. Return to the hotel and enjoy the dinner.

Breakfast at the hotel.
After breakfast, we will visit the Diskit Monastery which is branch of Thiksey Monastery and there you will see the Gigantic Statue of Maitreya Buddha.
From here one can see the beautiful view of Diskit Village and Shayok river. Indulge in meditation and guided yoga There after we will visit the Hunder village and will enjoy a ride of the double hump camel at sand dunes.
Lunch (On your own).
Upon return to the hotel we will indulge in Yoga by the beautiful view.
And tonight, we will all indulging in the Star Gazing.
Pick up the telescope and gaze the stars and know more about the universe.
Dinner & overnight at the hotel.
Nubra Valley – Pangong (274 Kms) – Pangong to Leh (223 Kms)
Today’s day is going to be really long. After early breakfast we leave Nubra at 700 am sharp to reach to Pangong Lake.
Pangong Lake, situated at a height of almost 4,350m, is the world’s highest saltwater lake. Its water, which seems to be dyed in blue, stands in stark contrast to the arid mountains surrounding it. Extending to almost 160km, one-third of the Pangong Lake lies in India and the other two-thirds in China.
Enjoy the beautiful sight and take some of the best photos around.
Stop for Lunch (On your own).
Later we will drive back to Leh.
Dinner at the hotel.
Leh – Alchi – Sangam – Basgo – Nimmo village – Leh
After breakfast today we will drive to Alchi Monastery en route visiting Sangam confluence of Zanskar & Indus river and Basgo ruins.
Basgo monastery is situated on top of the hill towering over the ruins of the ancient town and is noted for its Buddha statue and murals. The complex comprises the Chamchung, Chambal Lakhang, and Serzang temples, dedicated to the Maitreya Buddha.
Later proceed to Alchi.
Alchi is also part of the three villages, which constitute the ‘Alchi group of monuments’; the other two villages adjoining Alchi are the Mangyu and Sumda Chun. The monuments in these three villages are stated to be of “unique style and workmanship’, but the Alchi monastic complex is the best known.
The monastery complex was built, according to local tradition, by the great translator Guru Rinchen Zangpo between 958 and 1055. However, inscriptions in the preserved monuments ascribe it to a Tibetan noble called Kal-dan Shes-rab later in the 11th century.
Todays lunch will be at Alchi Kitchen – The Famous celebrity chef Nilza Wango.
Upon return stop at Nimmo Village – Walk around this beautiful village to the feel of real Ladakh.
Return to Leh – Free time to shop around.
Farewell Dinner to say good bye to all.
