Day 1

An hour’s exciting flight from Delhi over the Himalayas with spectacular views of mountain ranges brings you to Leh the capital of Ladakh.

Meeting and assistance on arrival and transfer to hotel.

Leh, The erstwhile capital of the kingdom of Ladakh is now a dream destination of many and the Mecca of adventure enthusiasts. Leh, one of the coldest deserts in the world is located at a distance of 434 Kms from Srinagar and 474 Kms from Manali (Himachal Pradesh). At the time of reorganization of districts in 1979, Ladakh was divided into Leh and Kargil and now Leh district is synonymous with Ladakh and vice-versa!

The town is still dominated by the now ruined Leh Palace, former mansion of the royal family of Ladakh, built in the same style and about the same time as the Potala Palace.

Rest day at leisure to acclimatize because you have suddenly landed at 3500 meters and the air is thin.

So we will Just rest till we adjust to the new climate.

Today we all will have a welcome dinner. Where we will get introduced to our fellow travellers with good food and some warm exchange of thoughts.

The monastery complex was built, according to local tradition, by the great translator Guru Rinchen Zangpo between 958 and 1055. However, inscriptions in the preserved monuments ascribe it to a Tibetan noble called Kal-dan Shes-rab later in the 11th century.
